- The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. This book was something I picked up after doing a bit of research on some good medical novels. I'm very interested in learning about the medical realm, and this book was an extremely interesting case. I'm sad to say that I never got to finish the entire thing (sophomore year was full of starts and stops for me) but what I did read was amazing. To think that one woman's cells could save the lives of thousands years after her death...it's pretty thought-provoking.
- Between Shades of Gray. This was another start and stop, regretfully so. I used to be an avid historical fiction reader, but I wasn't so much last year. Between Shades of Gray is by a historical fiction author that I liked freshman year, Ruta Sepetys, and its focus on Lithuanians forcibly moved by the Soviet Union really touched me. The narrative was very up close and personal, following a young girl really not much younger than us highschoolers. The innocence and maturity that the main character held astounded me. It made me think of how I'd react in such a situation.
- The Teenage Brain. Now, this may have been a summer assignment, but that didn't mean that I didn't find it interesting. Sure, I read it to make the time pass by during my Emergency Room shadowing, but I'm so glad that I spent the slow moments that way. I already mentioned that I adore medicine, so learning about the psychology of the brain was quite interesting. It was a real eye-opener to learn things I never knew about my brain, and engaging in a way that I never thought an assigned reading could be. Kudos to Mr. Logsdon for such a good pick.

Assignment 2: Anne
I'm sorry to say that the list of books I read during sophomore year was awfully short. (Technically, I read four books, but I'll only list three of them.) Though I didn't read many novels, I did spend a lot of time reading online news and other works. Regardless, here is my awfully short list of books I read during the last twelve months:
