Assignment 9- Andrew Rogers
In the grand scheme of things, war has a place in our modern world. Upon the hearing the word, we conjure up horrendous images from films like "Saving Private Ryan" and pictures from civil war and other documentaries. War seems inevitable. From the beginning of civilization, it seems, war and fighting have always occurred. As a kid in elementary school and even now, I've been fascinated with war history. From the conquests of Genghis Khan to the Battle of Gettysburg, the intricacies of war have fascinated me. But in looking at the overall concept of war, I've never sat down and really considered the need for war. Sure, we should strive for a perfect society is world peace. However, war is necessary. For all the ways war falls short, it solves an awful lot of problems. It seems to be the way for humans to solve their problems, rather than resolving things through peaceful negotiating. It's human nature to take the easier way. Don't get me wrong, war is never inherently easier for a country, especially for those who fight in them. Even though, it is a necessary evil that will always be present as long as human civilization exists.
