Assignment 9: Eli Wrinn

This is a question long pondered by philosophers since the dawn of civilization, and for an answer that has the potential to be so simple, it seems as if nobody has ever thought of a viable answer in tens of thousands of years. This fact should lead people to realize the plain truth: there isn't a way to prevent war without completely overhauling civilization and life as we know it. Humans at war is, of course, a terrible thing, millions of people die and countless lives are destroyed yet humans fighting is simply part of our evolution. All war is is competition between people over land and resources, its not like that isn't unusual among all other animals within their species. When birds, for example, fight over a mate, it seems harmless and almost funny. When giraffes, much larger and stronger animals, do the same, it is interesting and awe-inspiring. (You should watch giraffes fighting by the way it's really cool) When humans, the most powerful and dominant creatures to ever walk the earth, fight, it has the potential to destroy the earth itself. As long as DNA-based beings live on earth, there is no simple way to end war between them. My solution is to have robots put everyone in machines where they go to sleep but think they are living a real life. You can't make the reality too good or too bad for the people because they will realize something is wrong. The best is to put them in an average time period like the USA in the 1990s. (Not such a bad idea now is it?)
