Assignment Ten – Jessica Ewing

Honestly, if the zombie apocalypse were to suddenly occur, I think I'd stand a pretty decent chance. Believe it or not, I can handle myself pretty well. Now White Walkers...that's a bit of a different story. Though with the zombie apocalypse, I feel I'm pretty capable.

Now, the thing with the zombie apocalypse is that you don't need to survive indefinitely, you just have to survive until they all decay into nothing but mush. They are still nothing more than rotting corpses, after all. They're dead. They will decompose. And zombies don't pose much of a threat if they're piles of goo.

Depending on the time of year of this apocalypse breakout, I have one of two options: if it's spring or summer, I'll head north to my grandparents' farm. 820 acres out in the middle of nowhere Indiana, it's perfectly independently stable. If the apocalypse occurs in fall or winter, I'll head south, to South Carolina or Florida. Down there in the humidity and the heat, even in winter, it'll be warm enough to where the zombies will decompose faster, and I'll have to spend less time scavenging and trying to survive.

All in all, I'll only have to hold out for about two months before the initial zombie wave will be totally decayed and gone. From then on, there will only be the occasional zombie left to watch out for, but they're just nuisances. Nothing more.
