Assignment Seven – Jessica Ewing

When I'm ever asked where I want to go to college, I quickly change the subject. In my college plans, the school of my undergraduate career is the one thing that I don't know.

Any other question I can easily answer. Major? Doubling in psychology pre-med and history. Location? Out-of-state that offers both of my desired majors. Med school? University of Pittsburgh, due to their phenomenal psychiatry program (it's said to be the best in the country).

But my undergraduate college? I have very little idea of where I want to go. At this point, the school that gives me the most money for me to go there is the school I'll be going to, since I want to be leaving college with as little debt as possible.

That's sad, isn't it? How college has become so astronomically expensive that we have to base our decisions on the cost of our education. Would you rather spend $45,000 a year at your dream school or less than $20,000 at a school you dislike but have more scholarships for? I have a $10,000 annual scholarship to Georgetown College, but that's the only reason the school's on my college list. Other than that, I really don't care about Georgetown. I know it's not the school for me, but they're giving me money, so I have to consider it, don't I?
