Yo, my homies, what's good in the hood? It's ya girl R.I.B. comin'
atcha live from the comfort of my laptop. Y'all ready for this? LET'S
GO!
My full name is Rachel Irene Burns. My mom had this thing
where she named me (and my two siblings) a name from the Bible and also a
family name. Rachel is my biblical name and Irene is my family name.
I've always hated my middle name, solely for the reason that throughout
my life, people have told me it's ugly and I shouldn't be proud of it.
But as I'm coming to be more confident in who I am, Irene is becoming a
part of me. I'm actually starting to like it.
I'm
allergic to chlorine. Well, I guess I'm not necessarily "allergic" to
it, my skin is just super sensitive to it. I really don't know why,
though. I took swim lessons for 12 years continuously at the YMCA and
was on a swim team for 4 of those 12 years and I never had a problem.
Going into high school, I took a break from pools and didn't get near
one for about a year. After that, I started getting hives every time I
went in, even up to this day. So, I don't get in. Ever. Just kidding, I
actually do get in because I'm sad that all of my friends are having fun
in the pool without me and then we all freak out because I shouldn't be
in the pool. But, I'm here for a good time, not a long time, so the
hives that I get 3-4 hours later don't bother me probably as much as
they should.
I drink hot chocolate too much. It could
be 105 degrees outside and I'll still drink hot chocolate. I don't know
exactly why that is; it just is. I love hot chocolate. If you ever see
me with a coffee cup in hand, I'll bet you a million bucks it's actually
hot chocolate and I just told you it was coffee so I'd look cooler.
I
play 8 instruments. I don't like telling people that because I always
seem to accidentally one-up someone and I didn't intend on doing it and
then I end up looking like a jerk. However, I really do play 8
instruments (piano, cello, violin, bass guitar, guitar, ukulele,
saxophone, drums). I really love music. And Chance the Rapper. I could
listen to that man all day.
So, that's a sneak peek into
my life. Here's a picture of when I visited the Motown Museum in Detroit this past summer with
my best friend, Yasmin. Unfortunately, Yasmin lives in New York City so
I don't get to see her very often. But this was one of the best days of
my life.
And with that, I will leave you with a link to my favorite website, bn.com
